PDF to Excel
Move a table from a PDF (bank statement, price list) into an Excel file with its rows and columns
Your files stay with you. Conversion happens inside the browser; no file is ever uploaded to a server.

How it works
A common case: a bank statement from online banking, a supplier’s price list or a report from the accountant exists only as a PDF, and you want to add up the figures in Excel. Tap or click the box, choose the PDF and press Convert to Excel. The tool looks at where every piece of text sits: text on the same line becomes a row, text stacked in the same position becomes a column. Amounts such as 1,234.56 are written as numbers, so a SUM formula works immediately; account numbers with a leading zero, IBANs and dates like 03/12/2026 stay text so Excel cannot mangle them. The result line reads, for example, "3 pages → 86 rows × 5 columns · 214 cells read as numbers (1,234.56)".
This tool is also known as pdf to excel, pdf to xlsx, convert pdf table to excel, bank statement pdf to excel, pdf to csv.
What is A PDF’s text layer?
A PDF created on a computer stores each character together with the spot on the page where it is printed; that information is the text layer. It is what makes splitting a table into cells possible: the tool reads every coordinate, gathers text at the same height into rows and text at the same horizontal position into columns. A PDF made with a scanner or a phone camera is only a photo of the page and has no text layer, so its table can only be read with OCR (text recognition).
What is XLSX and CSV?
XLSX is Excel’s current file format: it holds several sheets (tabs), column widths and number formats. CSV stores each row as a line of plain text with cells separated by a delimiter. English-language Excel expects a comma between cells and a point for decimals, and this tool writes CSV that way. Use CSV to feed the data into another program or accounting software, and XLSX when you will work in Excel itself.
What is the difference between PDF to Excel and PDF to text?
PDF to text gives you the words in reading order as plain text; table values arrive side by side separated by spaces, and when pasted into Excel they all fall into one column. PDF to Excel uses the position of each word on the page: every value goes into its own row and column and amounts are turned into numbers. For a contract or a letter made of paragraphs, use the text tool; for a statement laid out in rows and columns, use this one.
Which PDFs work well, and where it struggles
Bank and credit card statements, invoice lists, price lists and reports exported from accounting software give the best results: every value in them sits in its own column. Grid lines, colored backgrounds, merged header cells and fonts are not carried over; only the content of the cells is.
If the text inside one cell wraps onto two lines, it appears as two separate rows in Excel, and in tables printed with columns packed tightly together two columns can merge. Check the result in Excel and fix such spots by hand. Scanned pages first need a text layer added with an OCR program.
Why do some amounts stay as text?
In Automatic mode the tool looks at the amounts in the document: if forms like 1,234.56 and 12.50 dominate, the decimal point is used; if forms like 1.234,56 dominate, the decimal comma is used. The choice is shown in brackets in the result line. A value that does not fit the chosen style is not converted and stays text, because a wrong guess would produce an amount off by a factor of a thousand.
Numbers with a leading zero (0012345), digit strings longer than 15 digits (IBANs, card numbers) and dates are deliberately left as text: if Excel treats them as numbers, it drops the leading zero or rounds the last digits to zero. An amount in parentheses is written as a negative number, following accounting practice.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to Excel?
Choose your PDF on this page and press Convert to Excel. The file is split into cells in your browser and saved as .xlsx in your Downloads folder; no sign-up, no upload.
Can a scanned PDF be converted to Excel?
Not with this tool. On a scanned page the text is a photo, not characters, and the tool tells you plainly that it found no table. You would first need a copy with a text layer added by an OCR program.
Can I add up the amounts from my bank statement in Excel?
Yes. Amounts are brought in as numbers, so you can select the column and use SUM directly. The result line says how many cells were read as numbers.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. Reading the PDF, building the table and writing the Excel file all happen in your browser; your bank statement never leaves this page.
