How it works
Tap or click the box and choose the photo for your meme; JPG, PNG and WEBP work. Then type your lines in the "Top text" and "Bottom text" fields below the box — one of them can stay empty. In the classic style the text is turned into CAPITALS automatically and drawn in white with a black outline, so it stays readable on light and dark photos alike. Letters with accents keep them: "café" becomes "CAFÉ". With automatic size the text starts large, wraps onto new lines and shrinks until it fits in at most 3 lines and 30% of the photo's height. Example: a 60-character bottom line on a 1080-pixel-wide phone photo ends up in 3 lines with letters of roughly 70–90 pixels. The modern style adds a white strip above the photo and prints the text in black exactly as you typed it, so the image gets taller. After you press "Make meme", the result line shows the size, the number of lines and the text size. There is no gallery of ready-made templates; you use your own photo, and no watermark is added.

What is Meme?
A meme, in the everyday sense used here, is a picture with a short caption that people pass around online for a laugh. The best-known layout puts a setup line along the top edge and the punchline along the bottom, in bold white capitals with a black outline so the words stay readable over any photo. This page applies that classic layout to a photo you choose. It does not offer a template gallery; it prints your text on your own image and adds no watermark.
What is Text outline (stroke)?
An outline, or stroke, is a line of a second color drawn around each letter. In meme text, the black outline around white letters separates the words from the background: on a bright sky the black line carries the shape, on a night photo the white fill does. On this page the outline is one eighth of the letter height, so 80-pixel text gets a 10-pixel outline and smaller text gets a thinner one. White text without an outline disappears on light photos, which is why classic memes are always outlined.
What is the difference between a meme and a watermark?
A watermark tool stamps text on an image to mark ownership or give a warning: it is semi-transparent, sits in a corner or as a faint pattern, and should not distract from the photo. Meme text is the content itself: fully opaque, large, in outlined capitals, spread across the top and bottom edges, with long sentences wrapped to fit. Use the watermark tool to protect your photos, and this page to make a funny picture or a quick announcement to share.
Why capitals and the right typeface matter
Meme text is written in capitals, and simple converters do that with a single rule that ignores the language of the page. This tool capitalizes by the page language and keeps accents on capital letters, so "jalapeño" prints as "JALAPEÑO" rather than losing its tilde. The Anton typeface it uses covers Latin letters with accents and is loaded from this site's own server, not from a font service.
If Anton cannot be loaded for some reason (a very old browser, a restricted network), the tool falls back to your device's bold typeface and says so in the result line; the text is still readable, it just looks a little different. The modern style uses your device's regular typeface and keeps your capitalization exactly as typed.
Tips for a meme that reads well
Short text works best: a setup on top and one punch at the bottom. Automatic size shrinks long text to fit, but a sentence that needs more than 3 lines covers much of the photo. Photos with the face or main subject in the middle give the best result, because the text covers the top and bottom edges.
The output has the same size as your photo; a JPG gives a JPG and a PNG gives a PNG. For sharing on messaging apps or Instagram, 1080 pixels of width is plenty; a very large photo only makes the file heavier, so you may want to shrink it first with the image resizer. For the modern look with a white strip above the picture, similar to a screenshot of a post, choose the "Modern" style.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add meme text to a photo?
Choose your photo in the box, type your lines in "Top text" and "Bottom text", and press "Make meme". The text is printed in white capitals with a black outline along the top and bottom edges. Save the result with "Download"; it lands in your Downloads folder, ready to share.
Does it add a watermark?
No. The finished image contains only your photo and your text. There is no logo, no site name and no account needed, and the output keeps the size of the photo you chose.
Are there ready-made meme templates?
No. This page does not offer a template gallery; it prints your text on a photo you choose. If you want to use a well-known meme picture, save it to your device and choose it here — and keep in mind the rights of whoever owns the photo when you share it.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo never leaves your device; measuring the text, wrapping it and drawing it onto the photo all happen inside your browser. The page only loads the typeface once from this site's own server; your photo and your text are not sent anywhere.
