How it works
Tap or click the box to choose one or more screenshots. Pick a background, the padding around the image and the corner radius, then press "Beautify". The tool centres your screenshot on a gradient background, adds a soft drop shadow and rounds the corners. Example: a 1280×720 screenshot with 64 px padding becomes a 1408×848 PNG; choose "1:1 square" and the background grows to 1408×1408 while the screenshot stays in the middle. "Window bar on top" adds a strip that looks like a browser or app title bar; it sits above your image and never covers any of it. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
This tool is also known as screenshot beautifier, add background to screenshot, screenshot mockup, add shadow to screenshot, screenshot frame, pretty screenshot, screenshot background generator.
What is Gradient background?
A gradient is a background that blends smoothly from one colour into another — here two or three colours run from the top-left corner to the bottom-right. It makes a screenshot stand out more than a flat colour because the eye picks up its edges more easily. The light grey and white options are for images that go into documentation, help articles or formal slides, where a colourful backdrop would distract.
What is Drop shadow blur?
Shadow blur is how softly the edge of a shadow fades out. This tool shifts the shadow slightly below the screenshot and spreads it by about half the padding, so the image appears to float just above the background. Larger padding gives a wider shadow; on white and light grey backgrounds the shadow is kept lighter so it does not look dirty.
Screenshot beautifier vs. adding a border: what is the difference?
A border tool puts a flat coloured strip around a photo and the result is still a flat photo. A screenshot beautifier stages the image as a separate card: gradient background, shadow behind it, rounded corners and an optional window bar, all fitted to the social media ratio you choose. Use a border for prints and albums; use a beautifier for product posts, tweets, changelogs and slide decks.
Which aspect ratio should I pick?
For slides, YouTube thumbnails and posts on X (Twitter), pick 16:9 — it fills a widescreen frame. Square (1:1) is the safe choice for Instagram and LinkedIn feeds. The 4:5 portrait ratio takes up more room in the Instagram feed and suits phone screenshots with little empty space.
The screenshot is never shrunk or cropped when you pick a ratio; only the background grows in the short direction. A very wide screenshot in 4:5 therefore gets large coloured bands above and below. "Free" gives the tightest result.
Before you share: personal data and sharpness
Screenshots often contain an email address, a phone number, an order number or a notification preview. This tool does not change what is inside the image. Cover those areas first with the markup or pen tool in your phone's photo editor — or crop off a notification bar — and then beautify.
The output is PNG because the shadow and rounded corners have soft edges and JPG shows banding on them. Since the screenshot is not scaled, text stays crisp; if the file is large, the app you post to will compress it anyway.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a background to a screenshot?
Choose the screenshot on this page, pick a background and press "Beautify". The image is centred on a gradient with a shadow and rounded corners; save the PNG with "Download".
Will my screenshot be resized or blurred?
No. It is placed pixel for pixel; only the background grows for padding and ratio. The output is therefore always a little larger than the original.
Can I style several screenshots the same way?
Yes. Choose several files and they all get the same background, padding, corners and ratio, each as its own PNG. Handy for a set of app store or feature images.
Does the window bar show a web address or a title?
No. The browser bar has an empty address field and the dark bar only has three coloured dots; no fake URL or brand is drawn. The bar is added above the image and covers nothing.
