TIFF to JPG
Turn a TIFF scan or fax into viewable images, with each page as its own JPG (or PNG)
Your files stay with you. Conversion happens inside the browser; no file is ever uploaded to a server.

How it works
TIFF is the format scanners, fax software and some offices hand out, yet Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot display it and phones often show no preview. Select the TIFF file, choose the output format and press Convert. The file is decoded inside your browser and each page becomes a separate image. Example: a 3-page scan.tif becomes scan-1.jpg, scan-2.jpg and scan-3.jpg at 2550 × 3300 pixels (US Letter at 300 DPI), roughly 0.6–1.5 MB per page at JPG quality 90. If you only need the cover page, choose "First page only". Fax TIFFs often have twice the horizontal resolution of the vertical (204 × 98 DPI); the tool reads both values, repeats rows to restore the page proportions and says so in the result line. For text-heavy scans you can pick PNG so letter edges stay crisp; the file is larger but nothing is lost.

What is TIFF?
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is a flexible image format used by scanner and fax software, archives and print shops. One file can hold several pages, store them uncompressed or with LZW, Deflate or the fax-specific CCITT compression, and record the DPI of every page. That flexibility is the reason most web browsers do not display TIFF at all.
What is Fax resolution (204 × 98 DPI)?
In standard mode a fax machine scans 204 dots per inch across but only 98 lines per inch down; fine mode raises the vertical value to 196. Because the pixels are not square, converting such a TIFF to JPG as-is shows the page squashed to half its height. This tool reads both DPI values and resamples the rows so the page gets its correct proportions.
What is the difference between TIFF and JPG?
TIFF is an archive and scanning format: it can be lossless and carries multiple pages and DPI information, but files are large and web browsers, email previews and most phones do not show it. JPG is a single-page, lossy photo format that opens everywhere and is 5 to 10 times smaller. Use JPG to send a document or upload it to a form, and keep TIFF for the original.
Which TIFFs open and which do not?
Supported: uncompressed, LZW, Deflate, PackBits, JPEG (new style, compression 7) and fax CCITT Group 3/4 TIFFs; black-and-white, grayscale and color (RGB) pages; multi-page files. Small preview images stored inside the file are not counted as pages.
May fail: old-style JPEG-compressed TIFFs (compression 6) — most open, but pages in non-standard files may not decode —, 16-bit and CMYK (print) TIFFs, and layered Photoshop TIFFs. The decoder may only partly handle these; when a page cannot be decoded, the tool names the page. A single page above 60 megapixels is refused because of the memory limit.
JPG or PNG?
Choose JPG for photos and color scans: the file is small, fits in an email and uploads to forms. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are placed on white.
PNG is better for text-heavy black-and-white scans, signatures and drawings: letter edges get no JPG blur and transparency is kept. On a black-and-white page PNG can even come out smaller than JPG.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert TIFF to JPG?
Select the TIFF file on this page, leave JPG as the output format and press Convert. Each page is listed as a separate JPG, and the file is never uploaded anywhere.
Why won't my TIFF file open?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot display TIFF; the Windows Photos app and Preview on a Mac can, although with a multi-page TIFF the Photos app may show only the first page. If you need to upload the file to a website or show it on a phone, converting to JPG is the easiest route.
How do I split a multi-page TIFF into pages?
Convert with "Each page as a separate image": a 5-page TIFF becomes 5 numbered JPGs. If you want to keep the pages together in one document, use the TIFF to PDF tool instead.
Why did my fax TIFF look squashed?
In standard mode a fax scans half as many lines down as dots across. This tool reads both resolution values stored in the TIFF and restores the correct proportions; when it does, the result line says so.
