Fit a photo on Instagram without cropping

Fit a photo to a 1080-pixel Instagram post or Story size without cropping it

Choose the photos to fit for InstagramTap or click the box — a file picker opens. You can also drag a file onto it.JPG, PNG or WEBP — you can choose several photos. Photos stay on your device

Your files stay with you. Conversion happens inside the browser; no file is ever uploaded to a server.

How it works

Tap or click the box and choose your photos; several photos can be prepared with the same settings. Pick where you will post on Instagram. Each photo is centred, fully visible, on a canvas 1080 pixels wide with the chosen aspect ratio, and the empty bands at the top and bottom or at the sides are filled with a blurred copy of the photo, white or black. Example: a 4000×3000 landscape shot from a phone lands at 1080×810 on a 3:4 portrait post, leaving a 315-pixel blurred band above and below. The result line gives the new photo size and the band width for each file. When posting, do not zoom in on Instagram's crop screen; the image already fits. Photos are processed in your browser and are not uploaded.

This tool is also known as instagram no crop, post full photo on instagram, instagram without cropping, instagram photo size, blurred background for instagram, fit photo to instagram.

What is Aspect ratio?

Aspect ratio is an image's width divided by its height: 4:5 means four units wide for every five units tall. In a feed post Instagram keeps ratios between 1.91:1 (landscape) and 3:4 (portrait) without cropping; anything outside that range has to be cut when you post it. Phone cameras usually shoot 3:4 or 9:16, and wide panoramas go beyond 2:1.

What is Blurred background?

A blurred background is the same photo enlarged to fill the whole frame and softened. The empty edges then carry the photo's own colours and stand out less than white or black bars. The tool darkens this layer slightly so the main photo separates from it. Older browsers without a blur filter get a shrink-and-enlarge method instead.

Fitting without cropping vs. cropping: what is the difference?

Cropping cuts off the edges that do not fit the target ratio: a landscape cropped to a square loses its left and right sides, and the person at the end of a group photo may drop out of the frame. Fitting does the opposite; nothing is thrown away and the missing area is filled with a background. The price is that the photo appears a little smaller on screen. If an important detail sits near the edge, fit; if the subject is centred, crop.

Why Instagram crops your photo

According to the Instagram Help Center (September 2026), a post keeps photos uncropped at ratios between 1.91:1 and 3:4, which means a height between 566 and 1,440 pixels at a width of 1,080 pixels. Wider photos are scaled down to 1,080 pixels. A photo outside that range, such as a 9:16 phone screenshot or a wide panorama, gets cut when you post it.

Since 2025 the profile grid shows 3:4 portrait tiles instead of squares, so a 3:4 post appears uncropped both in the feed and on the grid. That is why 3:4 is the default target. Stories and Reels are full-screen 9:16. These sizes can change; the values on this page are from September 2026.

Which target and fill to choose

For portrait and square photos, 3:4 gives the largest area. To show a landscape photo big in the feed, choose 3:4 as well; the photo stays in the middle and the top and bottom bands are filled. Landscape 1.91:1 only makes sense for very wide photos, because it shows as a thin strip in the feed. For a Story, choose 9:16.

The blurred fill looks the most natural because it uses the photo's own colours. White suits a clean, light profile look; black hides the bars on night shots and cinematic images. Using the same fill for every photo on one account keeps the grid tidy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I post a full photo on Instagram without cropping?

Choose your photo on this page, pick a post or Story size as the target and press "Fit". The downloaded JPG already has a ratio Instagram accepts; if you do not zoom in on the crop screen when posting, the whole photo shows.

What size is an Instagram post in pixels?

Instagram shows photos 1,080 pixels wide: portrait 1080×1440 (3:4) and 1080×1350 (4:5), square 1080×1080, landscape 1080×566 (1.91:1), and 1080×1920 (9:16) for Stories and Reels. Values from the Instagram Help Center, September 2026.

Will the quality drop?

The output is a 92% quality JPG, 1,080 pixels wide, which is the resolution Instagram stores anyway. Uploading a larger file does not make it sharper, because Instagram scales anything wider down to 1,080.

Can I prepare several photos at once?

Yes. Choose several photos in the box; all of them get the same target and fill, and each gets its own "Download" link.
