Unzip Files Online
Extract the files inside a ZIP archive in your browser and download each one separately, without installing anything
Your files stay with you. Conversion happens inside the browser; no file is ever uploaded to a server.

How it works
Someone emailed you "documents.zip", and your phone either will not open it or your work computer has no archive program you are allowed to install. Choose the ZIP file and press Unzip: the tool extracts the archive inside your browser and shows every file on its own row with its name, size and the folder it sits in. For example, a 4.2 MB archive might yield "passport.pdf", "utility-bill.jpg" and "cover-letter.docx"; you download only the one you need. The result line also states how many files the ZIP holds and what was skipped (for example "files in the ZIP: 3 · system files skipped: 2"). Clutter such as the __MACOSX folder that Macs add is hidden by default. If you give it a password-protected ZIP, a RAR or a 7z file, the tool says so plainly and names a program that can open it.
This tool is also known as unzip online, unzip files online free, open zip file online, extract zip online, unzip on iphone without app, zip extractor.
What is ZIP file?
A ZIP file bundles many files, folder structure included, into a single file; the "Download all" button of Google Drive, OneDrive and most portals hands you one. At the end of the archive sits a table of contents called the central directory, listing each file's name, its compressed and original size and a CRC checksum. This tool reads that table first, then unpacks each file and compares it with its checksum, so a truncated download is reported file by file instead of failing silently.
What is Extracting (unzipping)?
Extracting means turning the compressed data inside a ZIP back into ordinary files. ZIP compression is lossless, so the PDF or photo you get out is byte-for-byte identical to the one that went in; nothing about its quality changes. Phones often need a separate app for this step; this page uses the browser's built-in decompression engine instead, and your files are never uploaded anywhere.
What is the difference between unzipping and ZIP to PDF?
Unzipping gives you every file back exactly as it was, in its own format: a Word document stays a Word document, a photo stays a photo, and you download each one separately. The ZIP to PDF tool instead merges the photos and PDFs found in the archive into a single PDF and skips other types. Use this page when you need the individual files; use ZIP to PDF when a portal asks you to upload everything as one PDF.
Why do file names inside some ZIPs look garbled?
The ZIP format dates from 1989 and stored file names in the DOS code page of the day, IBM 437 in the US. Newer programs set a flag that says the name is UTF-8; older versions of Windows' built-in "Compressed folder" feature do not, and write names in the system's OEM code page instead. Open such an archive elsewhere and "résumé.pdf" can turn into a string of odd symbols.
This tool first checks whether a name is valid UTF-8; if it is not, it decodes it with code page 437, which is what a US English Windows writes. Only the name is affected — the file contents are never altered by this step.
Which ZIP files will not open?
Password-protected ZIPs: this tool does not decrypt. Encrypted entries are counted as skipped; if the whole archive is encrypted, open it in 7-Zip, WinRAR or your phone's file manager and type the password there.
RAR and 7z: these are different archive formats, not ZIP; the tool recognises them from their first bytes and names them. Archives over 4 GB (ZIP64) and entries compressed with methods other than Deflate (BZip2, LZMA) do not open either. Very large archives may also exceed a phone's memory, because the whole archive is unpacked in memory; for anything over a few hundred MB a computer is the safer choice.
Frequently asked questions
How do I open a ZIP file on my phone?
Open this page in your phone's browser, choose the ZIP file and press Unzip. The files inside are listed; press Download next to the one you want and it is saved to your Downloads folder. On an iPhone, the Files app can also open ZIPs with a tap, but this page works the same way on any phone.
Is my ZIP file uploaded anywhere?
No. The archive is opened inside your browser; neither the file, its name nor its contents are sent to any server. Once the page has loaded, the tool keeps working even if you go offline.
Can I download all the files at once?
Each file has its own Download button. Browsers block a page from starting many downloads at once for security reasons, so you press the buttons one after another. If you need every file from an archive with dozens of entries, Windows File Explorer or macOS Archive Utility extracts it in one go.
What does "CRC mismatch" mean?
A ZIP stores a checksum for every file. If the extracted file does not match it, the file is damaged — usually because the download was interrupted. The tool withholds that file and names it. Download the archive again and retry.
