How it works
A common case: someone sent you a presentation only as a PDF, and you want to present it from PowerPoint, add your own slides in between or write notes on top. Tap or click the box, choose the PDF and press Convert to PowerPoint. Each page is turned into an image at the sharpness you picked and placed full size on its own slide; the slide size is set to the aspect ratio of the first page, so no bars appear at the edges. The result line reads, for example, "24 pages → 24 slides · 150 DPI · 3.8 MB". Because the slides are images, the existing text cannot be changed, but you can add text boxes, arrows and shapes on top, delete slides and reorder them.
This tool is also known as pdf to powerpoint, pdf to pptx, pdf to ppt, convert pdf to slides, pdf to powerpoint converter.
What is PPTX?
PPTX is the presentation format PowerPoint has used since 2007. It is a ZIP package holding a separate definition file for every slide, the pictures used on the slides and the shared design (slide master and theme). This tool builds the package in its simplest form: a blank master, one slide per page and a picture filling that slide. That is why the file also opens in Keynote, Google Slides and LibreOffice Impress, not only in PowerPoint.
What is DPI (image sharpness)?
DPI states how many pixels fit into one inch. Because each PDF page enters the slide as a picture, this number sets how sharp it looks: at 150 DPI a US Letter page becomes 1275 × 1650 pixels and looks crisp on a laptop screen. If small print has to be readable on a projector or a large TV, 220 DPI works better; in exchange the presentation file grows noticeably.
What is the difference between PDF to PowerPoint and PowerPoint to PDF?
PowerPoint to PDF freezes an editable deck so everyone sees the same thing; the text stays text inside the PDF. The reverse direction loses information: a PDF no longer knows which part of a slide was a title box and which was a shape, so this tool turns each page into a picture as it is. If you have the original .pptx, work from that. If all you have is the PDF and you want to show or extend it in PowerPoint, this tool does the job.
Why can't the text be edited?
A PDF stores the page as it was laid out: text, lines and pictures sit at their positions, but the information "this is a title placeholder" is gone. The tool therefore turns every page into an image, so fonts, colors and layout do not shift on any computer. The trade-off is that you cannot change slide text as text in PowerPoint.
If one sentence on a slide needs fixing, the quickest way is a text box with a white fill placed over it. If you plan to rewrite most of the deck, pull the text out with the PDF to text or PDF to Word tools and move it onto new slides.
File size and sharpness
Every slide carries one JPEG image, so file size grows with the number of pages and the sharpness. At 220 DPI each slide holds more than twice as many pixels as at 150 DPI and the file grows noticeably; the actual size is shown in the result line. Choose Standard if you will email the deck, High if you will project it in a room.
If the PDF mixes page sizes (for example a portrait page among landscape ones), that page is centered and fitted on its slide with white margins around it; no page is cropped.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to PowerPoint?
Choose your PDF on this page and press Convert to PowerPoint. Each page is written as a slide into a .pptx file that lands in your Downloads folder; no account or upload needed.
Can I edit the text on the converted slides?
No; the slides are pictures of the pages. You can add new text boxes, shapes and notes, delete and reorder slides. To change the existing wording, extract the text with the PDF to Word tool.
Does it open in Google Slides or Keynote?
Yes. The file is a standard .pptx; upload it to Google Drive and open it with Google Slides, or open it with Keynote on a Mac or LibreOffice Impress.
Is my presentation uploaded to a server?
No. Rendering the pages and building the PowerPoint file both happen inside your browser; the PDF never leaves this page.
